Strongholds
One keep per clan, placed where it counts. Lose it and you lose the ground it anchors.
A Hytale server
Raise a clan, plant your stronghold, work the land — then defend it when the banners come over the ridge. Every border on the map was drawn by a player, and every one of them can move.
Found a clan and place a stronghold. Every later claim hangs off that one building, so where you put it is the first real decision of a realm.
Work the land for ore, timber and food. Outposts widen your reach and plots let people live inside your borders.
When claims collide, the map settles it. Muster parties, batter the gate, take the keep — territory changes hands for real.
What you are fighting over
The wilderness is there to be taken. Each realm is a hand-shaped arena — a safe neutral heart, four resource regions worth contesting, and a hard edge so the map feels like a place.
One keep per clan, placed where it counts. Lose it and you lose the ground it anchors.
Expand claim by claim, then lease land to the clansfolk who work it. Borders grow outward from a defended core.
Ore, timber and food move by road. A caravan is worth robbing, which makes it worth escorting.
Raise infantry, archers and cavalry, group them into parties, and march them where the map matters.
Gates have hit points and keeps can actually fall. Wars are decided in the world, not in a menu.
A realm is finite and hand-shaped. When it is won, the ledger records it and the next one opens.
Getting in
Contested Realms runs as a server plugin, so the only client you need is the game itself from the official launcher.
The build goes out with each realm announcement, so everyone starts on the same version.
The current server address is posted in the community before each realm opens.
Questions
Yes — the Contested Realms build. It is the client half of the server plugin, and the server tells you straight away if your version does not match.
It is free to play. You need a copy of Hytale from the official launcher.
You can live alone, but every system points at other clans. Solo players hold small plots; clans hold realms.
Your claim collapses back to whatever you still hold elsewhere. Land changes hands — that is the game, not a punishment.
They do not reset, they conclude. A won realm is recorded in the ledger and a new one opens beside it.
No. Building happens inside claims, and claims come from strongholds and outposts.
Claim a corner of it before someone else does. Bring a clan, or come alone and find one worth swearing to.
